Can you relate...?

  • You're new to infant or paediatric feeding, it's hard to get experience and you don't know quite where to start...

  • Or you're a more experienced feeding therapist but you need more evidence-based learning about infant oral sensory motor function, tongue ties, infant mental health, and intervention techniques...

  • You lack confidence with oral motor examinations and feel unsure about what you're looking for...

  • You're short on time and don't have capacity to travel to attend an event or sit all day in a workshop (especially in COVID times!)

Imagine if...

-

You felt more confident in the oral sensorimotor foundations of all feeding development and specific areas such as oral motor exams and tongue ties

-

You were able to fill the gap in your knowledge to begin to work with babies in your feeding practice, rather than referring them on

-

You're working with toddlers, preschoolers and school age children and you understand oral motor development and therapies to support the early stages of chewing

-

You had a handle on the evidence base around tongue tie and how to identify and manage tongue ties in young children

-

You were able to work at your own pace a time that suits you (for less than one hour per week to complete the course, if you took your time)

-

It's possible!

We developed the Infant Feeding Foundations Workshop with you in mind!

In the online Infant Feeding Foundations Workshop you'll learn:

-1-

Developmental foundations of feeding & oral development

Understand the typical stages of infant oral and feeding development (0-12 months) that underpin feeding and feeding therapy at all ages. You'll learn more about the development of oral structure and function, oral sensory motor development, and psychosocial development of infants.

-2-

Assessment of oral structure, function & feeding skills

Learn how to complete a feeding case history, an in-depth oral motor examination, and the fundamentals of a feeding observation. Example pictures and videos of the various oral structures and functions are provided, as well as some sample assessment forms.

-3-

Evidence-based assessment & management of tongue-tie

We will discuss in-depth the potential impact of tongue and lip ties, current controversies, and the research base for your decision making. Photo and video examples are provided of tongue tie assessment. Management of tongue ties in relation to difficulties with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, solids and oral function is highlighted throughout the course.

-4-

Treatment of breastfeeding & bottle feeding difficulties

Learn more about breastfeeding and bottle feeding in infants, including facilitative and compensatory strategies for improving difficulties in these areas. The importance of working within a team is highlighted.

-5-

Treatment of early solids difficulties, including oral motor skills

Identify treatment principles and techniques for the treatment of early solids difficulties, including oral motor skills for feeding. We will discuss infant mental health approaches to treatment, and review 'stress points' - common referral reasons and corresponding therapeutic strategies.

Babble and Munch's Infant Feeding Foundations is a must for any feeding therapist. Learn the important why of what we do, how to to do it and importantly, where to find up to date information to guide continued EBP.

Simone, Speech Pathologist

This course is worth every cent and minute of your time! Carly explains a complex area so simply and is so easy to listen to. Anyone working in feeding (or any Speech Pathologist at all) will learn something from this course.

Abbie, Speech Pathologist

I feel very fortunate that I was guided to complete this training in my new-graduate year as a speech pathologist. It has provided a fabulous foundation for paediatric feeding anatomical understanding, assessment and management. I now have the confidence to begin building a simple feeding caseload where before I didn't feel I knew enough. The online format was also a great way to self-pace the learning and stop to look over the interesting resources listed. I would highly recommend this to my colleagues.
